Residual Solvents

To extract CBD and other cannabinoids from the cannabis plant solvents are commonly used. Popular solvents used in cannabis extraction include CO2, butane, isopropanol and propane. For consumer safety and to meet EU regulations, solvents must be removed from the product before consumption.

While manufacturers strive to remove all dangerous processing solvents, it is inevitable that small quantities will be left behind. At PhytoVista Laboratories, we use modern gas chromatography (GC) and flame ionization detection (HS-GC-FID) to measure headspace in residual solvents. We will analyse samples in our testing laboratory and provide you with a report stating whether the sample passed and if the concentrations of residential solvents are within EU regulations.
